We are doing it so we can learn how to play touch. I can’t wait to play touch after morning tea. I am expecting to play with the rugby balls and learn how to kick.

The Person Inspires me

The person who inspires me is my Mum, she inspires me because she buys me games, food, and drinks. She does the cooking for me and my family to eat, she pays for the power bills and the water bills and she makes me laugh all the time. My Mum makes me happy most of the times. That is way my Mum inspires me.

Manaiakalani Film Festival

“Yay we’re going to the movies.”

On Wednesday 13th November 2013 we went to the cinemas in Sylvia Park, to watch the Manaiakalani film festival which was made by all the 13 schools in the whole cluster.

We hopped into the bus and sat down then we set off. When we got there we could see lots of other schools. We saw St Patricks, Glen Innes Primary, Panmure Bridge, St Pius X School and Pt England.

We got inside the theater and all we could see was a gigantic screen and lots and lots of chairs. The chairs were so comfortable, we sat down then suddenly the lights turned off.

We started watching lots and lots of films. My class was first, our movie was about Success. We had four things happening in one movie, we all got split up into four groups. There was Tokilupe’s group, Patrick’s group, Alecia’s group, and Roserine’s group. There were main characters in all four groups, the main character in Tokilupe’s group was Seauti, Alecia’s was Rosalina, Patrick’s was his whole group, and Roserine’s was Victoria.

After our movie it was Glen Innes Primary School, their movie was about no more chocolate in the world. At the end two girls made chocolate that was called the Wonka chocolate.

We saw 17 movies but altogether there were 62 movies made in the cluster. My favourite movie was ‘No Chocolate in the World’ by Glen Innes Primary because at the end they made a chocolate that looked so yummy.

There was a lot of awesome and funny movies. We also saw Room 6 and Room 7’s movie from our school. Room 7 was singing their song that they made this year with a video clip, room 6 movie was about Lockdown, when a bad person came and had their basketball, it turned out to be Mr Slade Room 6’s teacher pretending to be the bad guy until he took off his hoodie.

That was the 1 of the best days of my life.

Prompt Practise 5

On a boring hot afternoon at work the boss Carl was bored, so he went down stairs and said to Margaret, “can I blow dry your hair.”

Margaret said to him in a angry loud voice “NO!” the whole office heard her, Carl still kept asking and always finished the sentence with please, but Margaret got annoyed so she pretend he wasn’t there.

So Carl got even bored so he stopped. The next day came, he didn’t ask this time he just sneak and blow dried her hair she got angry and a little happy because her hair was nice.

She said to him “what a you doing?” he said “your hair did not look great so I blowed dried it.” she did not know that so she said “can you do it again” so he did it and this time she laughed, and that was the happiest not boring work day ever.

On a lovely sunny day a family went to the zoo, “I can’t wait when we get there.”said Freddy and Chloe.

When they went and saw the monkeys Freddy and Chloe wanted to touch one, they said to there Mum and Dad, “Mum and Dad can we touch a monkey” but Mum and Dad said “no” they got angry.

They asked again and again and again, Mum and Dad still said “NO!” “When Mum and Dad turns around lets touch one,” said Chloe “ok” said Freddy.

Mum and Dad turned around to have a conversation, Chloe and Freddy touched a monkey the monkey felt it, the monkey turned around and started to scream and that made all the other monkeys scream.

The zoo keeper came and asked the family what happened and the family explained everything, then the zoo keepers said to feed them some bananas.

So they were feeding the monkeys bananas to calm down the monkeys were calming down they calmed down and the zoo keeper went back.

Freddy and Chloe said to Mum and Dad, “sorry Mum and Dad we won’t do it again, we promise” the Mum and Dad was not angry at them anymore. So they went around the zoo and never touched a animal.

Squash Recount

"The ball went too fast I could not hit it fast enough." On Monday the 14th we had Squash in the  school hall. We had two men come to our school to teach us how to play Squash their names were Michael and Phil. Phil taught us skills and Michael was at the squash wall helping us play, I felt nervous when I was playing. In squash you play with a racket and a small fast ball, but when you are practicing you use a softer slower bigger ball.

The squash wall is the wall you have to hit with the ball, the group that I was in went to Phil first, the other group went to the court with Michael. When we were with Phil we learned how to do tricks which were very hard, we had to throw it up and catch without bouncing it and more.

I was very bad at playing Squash because I always lost, every time I got in I always got back out. There are two top players in the world,1 is a girl and 1 is a boy, thier names are, Ramy Ashour, and the girl is Nicole David.

Squash was invented 140 years ago the year that is was invented in was around 1830. In squash they wear shirts, skirts, pants and protective glasses. I have played squash at my school it is very tiring  because you have to run from here to there and hit the ball with the racket.

We only got to play for 3 days, the first day we got to know how to play, the second day we did a rotate, and on the third day we did the same thing, there was a champion from the class on days two and three, the champion on both days was Patrick, he never left the place where you battle people, he never moved to another court because he was always one of the top two players in the court, he was called the king of the court because he kept winning in the court.

When they left the next day I felt sad, tired and happy. Sad because they were leaving, tired because I was always running around and happy because I enjoyed learning how to play squash.

Duffy Recount

On Monday the 23rd there was a Duffy Theatre performance in the hall. Most of St Pius X School was there but Room 7 wasn’t there because they were at League with Kouma.

There were people came and did a play about Duffy, hes a school boy who always wears a hat. There were 2 boys and 1 girl. One of the boys and the girl were from Samoa and the other boy was a Kiwi. The two boy’s went and got dressed into their costumes and the girl stayed while we played a Samoa game.

The name of the play the duffy theatre did was called “Duffy Loses His Words.” It was about when Duffy was telling his little brother Scruffy what happened yesterday in his book because he wrote it down when he lost his words.

It all started when he was sleeping, a bad guy came, his name was Votra he was a bad guy he had a toilet plunger on his head. Votra made Duffy be the director of a game called “Intergalatic Word Competition”. Votra had a competition with Lovely and they had to name lots of types of food. The one that got the most was the winner, Votra got angry because he lost. In the next round there was a girl called Rude. This time they had to say as many street words as they could. The audience helped Votra but he lost.
After that Duffy lost his words and Afi got the words back from Votra.

At the end of the show Tokilupe thanked the Duffy people for coming to our school. I liked the show, the best part for me was when Duffy got his words back, it made me feel happy and excited for him.

We all went back to class and then went outside for lunch.

We had to wear coloured shirts and the boys wore shorts and girls had to wear skirts. We weren’t allowed to wear black and white because the lights were hot. When we got up I was nervous, we sat down and there was lots of schools. There was 15 rows, there was only 14 kids who represented St Pius X, we were on rows 3 and 2.

We only sang half of the songs and had a 20 minute break and in the 20 minute break we had cookies, chocolate and played games which were Monkey Barrell and Knuckle Bones.

When we got back up on the stage we sang the rest of the songs then we finished and we had to go backstage. I felt happy when I was singing. We had to wait for our Mum and Dad to come and my Mum came and my dad was waiting in the car.

Filming Reflection

In term 4 we are having the Makanalani Film Festival at Hoyts in Sylvia Park. The Makanalani Film Festival is when you make a movie and show it off at the movies. The films have to be 3 minutes long, if it’s more than 3 minutes long the people at the movies will cut the rest of the movie off. My classroom room 3 at St Pius X Catholic school is making a movie with the topic of success.

First we split up into 4 different groups one was sports, another was music, goals, and the last one was subjects.
The group that I was in was music. We had a director, actors, and a camera operator, a director is the boss, camera operator is the person who films it and the actors are the people in the film.

I was an actor, the main character was my friend Seuati, he had to learn how to play the guitar. There was a song in the background but I’m not going to tell you it because I don’t want to ruin the suprise…...it is such a good song it fits with the movie. The other movies  have something to do with success even my movie has it as well. Thats all I am going to say, you will have to watch the movie to see how we did.

St Pius X Feast Day

In the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen. On Friday 23rd of August 2013 St Pius X School celebrated St Pius X Feast day. We all had a whole school mass in the church, we were singing beautiful songs and listening to students speaking.

After that the whole school mass we went to the hall and had cake, the cake was banana cake with cream on top, the cake was so delicious. Next we had morning tea and after morning tea we went back to the hall because there was a concert.

Room 1 and 2 sang a song I don’t what the song was called but it was so good, we all clap for room 1 and 2. After room 1 and 2 was room 4, they were singing just a single candle and they were awesome singing. Everyone clapped loudly for room 4.

Room 5 came up and sang Paradise, Moto was the solo, he was so good and so was the rest of room 5. Room 3 sang Haere Mai and Something in the water. There were two soloists, they were Ezra and Tokilupe. Ezra was the soloist for Haere Mai, and Tokilupe was soloist for Something in the water, everyone clapped.

Next was room 6 singing Mali Mali Mai with the ukuleles. They were so good and after their performance was room 7 singing Let it go and Moving Sun, also an instrumental song, they were good.

After the concert it was big lunch, next we went back into the hall and saw a woman who plays the euphorium. The euphorium is a rare instrument, it costs lots of money. She played a little bit for us and took a picture of the whole school.

After lunch we went to the courts to see the basketball tournament. First it was my team Tuis vs Keas, Keas was so good but my team Tuis won. Next was Geckos vs Kiwis, some of my friends were playing, it was a hard game but Geckos won. It was loud the cheering because each time when one team got a score the whole teams say “YAY!”.

We didn’t see the last two teams play basketball because we ran out of time so they played the following Friday. It was so awesome when we all went home we all had a smile on our faces.

The Ant Army

The Army Ant is about hundreds of female ants going out to the school yard to look for food to bring back to their colony.

They found a doughnut that had sugar and jelly. They all took one bite and broke it in half to make it easy to carry back to the colony.

When they were taking the doughnut back to the colony there was trouble. The trouble was a boy running towards them.

Some of the ants got squashed but survived they hurried quick back to the colony.

The equipment you use is a racket, shuttlecock and a net. Badminton is a game with a racket and shuttlecock which is hit over the net using the racket.

When you are practising badminton you use a plastic shuttlecock, but when you're playing for real you use a shuttlecock made out of goose feathers.

The things you wear are a white top, white shorts, if your are boy and if you’re a girl you wear a white top and a white skirt.

The maximum points that you need to win a round of badminton is 21 points. You can play single and doubles, the first serve of the game is from the right half court to the opposite.

It is not a hard game to play. Lots of people can play it.  It’s safe.

The Rainbow Bird

Toucan                 Antbird

This story is about birds that were not colourful and they were jealous of all the nature around them, because they wanted to be colourful.

The birds kept trying to get colour by rubbing stuff on themselves like blue berries, leaves and grass, none of the items they used work, because the rain washed the colours off.

After the rain went away there was a rainbow that they always liked to look at, but one day the rainbow was dark and black. There was another bird that was from heaven called the Phoenix, who glided down to come and see the birds.

He told them to come with him and fight off thousands of roaches because they were eating the rainbow. Some of the birds went and fought them off and some of them stayed behind.

They were struggling to fight and some of the birds and roaches were falling to the ground, but the bird won. After they finished fighting the roaches the rainbow grow longer and colourful.

The birds flew through the rainbow and turned into rainbow colours. They came back and the other birds that didn’t go were jealous.

The moral of this story is to help each others.

Term 2 Thinking

My favourite thing this term was golden time.
Golden time was my favourite thing this term because we could do whatever we want on our netbook or offline.

The thing that I didn’t like this term was water. Water wasn’t my favourite thing because we learnt lots and lots about it and it was getting boring.

Next term  I am looking forward to embracing cultures. I am looking forward to embracing cultures because we will be looking at countries around South America.
