I thought I lost my mind. I woke up to a lovely sunshine shining on my face. I was getting ready to start day playing games, but my games weren’t there. I looked everywhere in the house and found NOTHING! No one was at home so I couldn’t ask them where it was. I thought I was having a bad dream, so I tried to wake myself up but nothing happened. I didn’t know where it could have been.

I did not know what to do, there was a loud bang coming from the door. As I thought my day couldn’t get worse, something terrible happen, I open the door and it was my console, in bits and pieces I was very shocked. As I looked up, someone was there. I was suddenly awoken, with my console next to me. I realized, it was only just a dream.

Cyber-Bully Talk

I learnt this morning that when you say something online it will never be taken offline because whatever website you posted it on, that company will forever have it in their archives.

Constable Gordon came to talk to Room 7 about Cyber Bullying. I was really grateful that he came because, now I understand I should never be mean online, because it makes an impact in a lot of people’s lives. I am not going to lie, I have cyber-bullied before and i'm not proud of it. In the future I will never support anything bad that happens online or that is targeting someone/something.

Troll

TROLLS

It was a cold windy night in the darkest jungle in the world. The wind was very strong, and loud. There were two small trolls. There was a pink troll, and a blue troll. The pink troll had a guitar and started playing, while she was playing the blue troll was trying to sleep.

The blue troll woke up and he was furious. He shouted at her to go to bed. He went back to bed mad. But she refused to listen to him. So instead of listening, she carried on playing on her guitar, and singing at the same time.

She sang so loud, she woke up the entire jungle. The jungle loved her voice so much, that they joined in with her. This time the blue troll was very furious, he shouted very loudly. “STOP!!” everyone stop. He took the guitar off her and threw it into the fire and shouted. “GO TO BED!!!”

Book Character Day

Today was Book Day. For Book Day we all had to dress up in our favourite book characters. But me, and a few other boys, came in our favourite video game characters. My video game character was a Creeper, from the game Minecraft. Minecraft is a game about creating your own world, and you can do anything, and everything.

Overall I thought everyone dressed up really nice. My favourite person who dressed up was Richie. He was my favourite because he dressed up as Wally, from the book, Find Wally.

Retreat Writing

At retreat it was fun because there we did a lot of activities, and we got to communicate with each other more.

Its was June 23rd the year 8’s from Saint Pius X School we went to the Francis Retreat center. When we got there we were greeted by Brother Philip, and he brought us inside. After he was done talking, Mrs Tui took us upstairs to our room.

When we finished settling in we all had to go downstairs to eat morning tea. For morning tea we ate biscuits and drinked milo. Next we went back up to our rooms and waited until we were called to come back. While we went back upstairs, Joshua asked if he called sleep in the same room as me. I let him, because no one else would.

Overall I think this was a really fun trip to go to, I hope in the future I can visit another retreat center.

Powhiri

A Powhiri is when you are granted access to enter the marae, a Powhiri is a special thing, because if you weren’t in a Powhiri before entering a marae, you will not be allowed to into the marae.

On Tuesday 14th of June, St Pius X went to the marae in Ruapotaka, which is behind the Glen Innes Library. When we got there we had to do a Powhiri. A Powhiri is always performed by women, when we got to the marae, there was an old lady who did a powhiri with Ana-Lei.

We all stood in a row, but all the boys were at the back, and the girls were in the front. We had to be very quiet, the only people who could talk, was Ana-Lei, and the old lady. This felt very cool, because I got to be part of something, that i've never been apart of before.

Tamaki Science Roadshow

Room 7 & Room 5 went to the Science Roadshow at Tamaki College. We were provided transport from our parents. My sister Rita came and she dropped off Albert, Patrick, and I to the Roadshow at Tamaki.

My favourite thing at the Roadshow was this Sugar Test. This was my favourite because it showed how many sugar is in sugared drinks. The drink I tested how much sugar was in, was a energy drink. I found out their was 29.3 teaspoons of sugar in a energy drink.

I think this was a really good trip to Tamaki College because we got go to a Science Roadshow for the 1st time.

Spark Headquarters

Yesterday, Sunday 22 May, some of the Room 7 and Room 5 students went to the Spark Headquarters.  We went by bus.  It felt funny going on a school trip on a Sunday but was excited to go.  

We participated in different activities.  My favourite activity was 3D printer.

This was my favourite activity because we got to design what we wanted to create with the 3D printer. Sadly, my creations were not going to be printed because it will just take to long. I created a car using a program called Tinkcad.  I was very creative with my online construction.  I was disappointed that I did not have the opportunity to print, however, I now know how to access this program.  I realised how some toys are made, like the little toys at McDonald.  I might look for job like that in the future.

In the holidays me and my family went to Kohimarama beach so we could swim.

It was a hot day, we had nothing to do, my dad asked me and my family if we wanted to go beach, we said yes. So we packed our bags and went to the beach. When we got to the beach it was packed.

We found a spot where we could put down our things, after when we got changed into our swimming togs, me and my nephew had race into the water. When we got to the water we saw our family already in their, the water was very cold, we struggled to get in the water, but we finally got in there.

While we were playing in the water my brother came in and he started putting our heads under the water, it was very fun because we had a competition to see who can put most of the heads under what, my big brother won because he would always put 2 heads down all the time.

Overall I thought that was a fantastic day, and I hope we do something like that again.

Soul Friends

My Soul Friend

Soul friend is when a small person, and a elder person at school, are chosen to look after each other for the entire year. We have a soul friend because our parents aren’t always with us so if the younger soul friend needs our help the elder soul friend will help.

We celebrate soul friends day on St Patrick's Day, we go to mass, we have a shared lunch, and we make a promise saying we will look after them for the rest of the year.

My soul friend is Lisiate, he is a 5 year old tongan boy who is in room 1, he has short hair, and his favourite color is green. He is a shy boy but he has a lot of friend, I hope this year me and Lisiate will do fun things together.

KIWI SPORT

TENNIS KIWISPORT

On Tuesday the 23rd of February 2016 we started our first kiwisport in 2016.

Our first kiwi sport was tennis. We put our P.E shirts on and went to the courts, when we went to the courts we saw the tennis nets already set up, with the tennis racquets in a bag. We also saw our coach, he told us what we were gonna do today.

We grabbed a racket and a ball, and we practised hitting the ball bouncing it up & down on the racquet, we did that for about 10 minutes, and then we had to get a partner, my partner was Richie, Richie went to one side of the tennis net, and I went to the other side.

We started by hitting the tennis ball at each other with the racquets, we finished doing that then half of the class had to go to the back of the court, and the others had to stay at the nets. During that time I had to go to my dentist appointment so I didn’t do anything else.

Overall I think tennis is a very energetic sport and you have to be fit to be able to play it.

This week was our testing week, I think I did well because I came out in Stanine 5 in my P.A.T Maths test, I hope I will improve throughout the year, I will be trying to get to Stanine 8 or Stanine 9 at the end of this year.

In the holiday it was alright, because I went to the movies but I stayed home most of the time.

It was sorta fun and sorta boring in the holiday. The only fun part was when I went to the movies, and when I went to the airport to pick up my brother. It was fun when I went to the movies because I got to watch a movie called, ‘The Peanut Movie,’ it was a very funny movie because the characters looked funny, there was this funny character named Pig pen, only reason why he was funny, was because their was a stink cloud following him all over the place.

It was also fun in the holiday because I went to the airport to pick my brother up, and on the way we had dunkin donuts. It was also boring in the holiday because most of the time I stayed home and sleep.

But over all think that was I had a very fun holiday.

Sailing at Kohimarama

Sailing

On Thursday 12th November room 7 went sailing at Kohimarama Beach.

We were divided into 2 equal groups, there were 12 in each group it was the morning group and afternoon group. I was put in the morning, we all arrived to school in our normal clothes and not in our school uniform. When we arrived at Kohimarama Beach, there were boats that weren’t set up. So the morning group got to set up the sail and got to sail first, it was also fun in the morning group because the tide was in and we got to sail even further.

When we got the boats in the water we had to help our partners get in the boat, my partner was Justin and he went first, it was very funny because while he was out in sea he somehow managed to flip the boat, but then the    instructor helped him flip the boat back around.

Justin was coming back alongside all the other boats, when he came back it was my turn to go on the boat, it was very hard steering the boat because you had to do two things at once. The two things you have to do is control the sail and steer the boat to the right direction.

After when we finish sailing we got change and had launch. This was 1 of the best days of my life.

Late last week room 7 had a writing test. The topic we had to write about was a special family time, I wrote about my brothers 21st birthday we still waiting for our report but this week we are having a P.A.T reading test.

A Days at Rainbows End

A Day at Rainbows End

During the 1st week of School Holidays it was my birthday, we celebrated my birthday by going to rainbows end. When we arrived, the first ride we went on was the Scorpion Karts. Me and my family had a race, I did terrible  because I came 3rd out of my family, it was really funny because my sisters would always crash into each other. Next we went to the Pirate Ship.

I thought that the pirate ship was scarier than the fear fall because the fear fall goes down very fast and the pirate ship keeps on going up and down until it goes very high and that’s when it starts to come down. But after that it was the Bumper Carts.

When we got to the bumper carts me and my family made a plan if we get bumped by anyone we will all go for that one person until they stop the ride. During that one of my family members bumped into me and we all went after her. We stopped bumping into her when the ride stop. After we went on the Bumper Boats.

The bumper boats was my least favorite because I got wet all the time so I am not going to talk about that. But the last ride we went on was the Family Karts. This was my favorite ride, because my sister would always crash into the corners, and the last time she crashed she went over the

barricade and me and my family started to laugh but then when we finished we went home.

Overall I think that was one of the best birthdays ever because that was my first time going to Rainbows End.
